Botox relaxes facial muscles resulting in a smoothing of the skin and softening the lines we create when we express ourselves. Worry lines, frown lines, crow's feet and forehead wrinkles can all be dramatically reduced by injecting tiny amounts of botox with a very fine needle.

The Consultation

A thorough medical history will be taken during the consultation to ensure that you can be safely treated with Botox. Consultations are carried out at our aesthetic clinic  Rawtenstall in Lancashire which is less than a 30 minute drive from Manchester city centre and has free parking directly outside the clinic.  If suitable, you may choose to go ahead with the treatment at this consultation, but if you would prefer to return at a later date instead this can be arranged for you. Amanda will discuss with you exactly where to administer several tiny injections to achieve the best results from your botox treatment. Everyone is different. Some people prefer a more natural look retaining minimal movement, whilst others like all the movement to go. Some people like a very arched eyebrow, but men for example want their eyebrows to remain straight. This can all be achieved and Amanda will discuss all this at your consultation.

The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes and discomfort is minimal and brief. An ice pack is used to cool and numb the area. You may resume normal activity immediately. There may be slight redness following the treatment but this generally resolves within an hour or less. Minor bruising occurs in some people but can be covered with make-up. Avoiding Aspirin, Ibuprofen and alcohol prior to the botox treatment and soon after will minimise the risk of bruising.

The Results

Within days you will see a marked improvement that may continue to improve for as long as a week. A review appointment will be arranged for you after 2 weeks to check the results of your botox and ensure that you are entirely happy with your treatment. This review is important to 'tweak' the results and get them absolutely perfect for you. There is no charge for this and if more botox is required this is provided free of charge. Results should last up to 4 months and longer in patients who have had botox treatments regularly. Botox relaxes the overactive muscles whose repeated contractions cause the lines to form. You will still be able to frown, smile or look surprised, without the furrows, creases and wrinkles.
